The Lord's Limo

Imaginations ready?  My limo driver is the coolest guy.  Black hat, sunglasses, and all.  He picks me up in the morning and takes me exactly where I’m supposed to go.  The climate inside is a perfect 72 degrees.  Praise and worship music is playing and behind the bullet proof glass windows is safety and peace.  Oh, He’s the best conversationalist too.  Quiet when I want quiet, listening when I need to talk, and talking when I need to hear.  Well, you’ve guessed it – my limo driver is my heavenly Father.  And the limo?  It’s the space in Him when my walk with Him is as is should be.  During some of the most difficult times in my life, I imagine God picking me up at my front door, first thing in the morning, in His perfect limo.  He is at the wheel, I’m not.  He is directing my path, not me.  He is protecting me in perfect peace when I cannot protect myself.  Since He is in control and I am not, I imagine riding along in His vehicle; it reminds me that He is driving my life.  I lean back, wait to see where He drops me off, and thank Him for the ride.  Is this an easy exercise of my imagination?  Not at all.  But it’s a little something I do to bring myself back to the true reality of life.  I was born for His glory.  I was born to serve Him.  Life can be scary and painful and confusing sometimes.  God knew we would have those emotions.  He knew we would have questions, lose our faith, become angry and frustrated and sad.  He knew life wouldn’t take us where we thought it would.  But He wants more than anything to have our love.  He wants us to trust Him behind the wheel.  He wants to be our perfect 72 degrees and our bullet proof windows.  Have you taken a ride in the Lord’s limo lately?
