The Proof is in the Pudding
I have worked with nurses for many years. Some of my favorite people of all time are nurses and this is why…the other day I overheard a co-worker of mine, a nurse, tell the nurse she was working with for the day, “I’ll be right back. I’m going to get some pudding for my patient who can finally eat and that’s all he wants right now. I’m getting some lunch while I’m out.” She proceeded to clock out and run the errand. While she was out, the skies opened up like in Bible times; it began pouring rain and hail! She came back with her pants completely soaked, but with her Spirit alive, well, and laughing about it. My heart melted over the whole event. What a kind, thoughtful, compassionate thing to do. She could have offered him something in-house to eat and left it at that, but she took her own time and money to get exactly what would make his day. Now that’s the kind of nurse I want when I’m sick. Thank you, my nurse friend, for your heart of Christ and for serving in such a humble way – knowing you would never truly be thanked in the way you deserve.
Stop and thank a nurse today for their unending sacrifice to their patients and for being an everyday hero.
“But a Samaritan…came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine…” Luke 10:33, 34
