Thoughts for Today

Be Mine

What an unlikely Valentine’s Day thought, but this writing is really for the singles.  Or anyone feeling lonely during Valentine’s week.  Valentine’s Day can be so exciting for couples who are in love, but for many single people it can be miserable. Some feel incredibly lonely even inside of marriage or a relationship. Valentine’s Day can be unbearable - a reminder that you have lost or never found your true love. And still, others rejoice that they are single and that’s okay too.  Either way, there are mixed emotions on Valentine’s Day.

Instead of it being a miserable day, though, find a way to change the meaning of it for you.  It may be that you decide to bless other single people by baking them cookies or handing out “thinking of you” Valentine cards.  It may be a time to have a get-together with your friends or family, laugh, and have a good time. When you take the focus off yourself by giving to others, it brings joy to your life that you can feel on the inside.

More than anything, though, let the meaning of Valentine’s Day be a reminder of God’s love for you whether you’re single, married, widowed, divorced, or separated.  He is the perfect husband.  He catches your tears. Erases your fears. Counts the hairs on your head. Knew you before you were born. He covers you with His feathers. I don’t know any earthly spouse that loves like that. Imagine Him giving you a conversation heart that says, “Be mine” because that’s exactly what He desires. You!

Oh…and remember, in Him, you are never alone.

Know that you are deeply loved by the King my friends,
Celeste
