Ever wonder what it would be like to be famous and have more money than you knew what to do with? A famous Hollywood figure was featured, on a news program, years after her death. They told about her life, how she grew up, how many children she had, and what her career was like. The program showed clips of all the things she had stored up as memorabilia including little things like a napkin she had made notes on to help her remember a thought. They went on about how many other famous people she knew and the impact she had on Hollywood. All the while, I was not surprised to hear that there was not one mention of her spirituality; her lifelong fruits were unfortunately not of the Spirit. It made me feel very sad for her and for her family.
Excess money is not something God has blessed me with so I cannot imagine what it would be like to live like a Hollywood star. But, when I am gone from this earth and my loved ones are recounting my life, I hope that my Father, Jesus, and the Spirit are a recurring theme that people recall. I hope that I have made an impact because of my Savior. I hope that my memorabilia are filled with His love over and over and over again. I hope there is no doubt that my family knows they will see me again. I want to be famous because of my Lord.
And interestingly enough, we all are. We are famous because of God. He wanted us here. He knew us before we were created. We are inscribed in the palm of His hand. He wants to be our first love. He sees how we treat our spouses, children, family, and co-workers. He knows about notes we scribble on napkins. He has a mental copy of our first steps, every childhood drawing, every success, every failure, every laugh, and every tear. He loves us beyond what our tiny brains can comprehend. We are in the spotlight in a good way. So, if you ever wonder what it would like to be famous, you can stop wondering. You already are! You are famously caring for your own Spirit, your families, your neighbors. You are famously doing the laundry, wiping snotty noses, feeding your family, getting the hair out the drain, praying deeply for the suffering, working hard, playing hard, giving a sandwich to the hungry, holding the bereaved, and most importantly, worshiping, praising, and loving God. Which leads me to the question… since you’re so famous, could I get your autograph?
“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs…” Romans 8:16,17
