Thoughts for Today

God in the Grocery Store

I see the neatest things here in the Shoals.  The other day I was grocery shopping and overheard two women reconnecting in one of the aisles; apparently, they hadn’t seen each other in a while.  I was within earshot of them for a time and suddenly heard them praying together – right in the middle of the store.  I smiled and said to myself, “Good for them!”  I felt the Spirit right there in the grocery store and was reminded of the verse, “Where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them,” Matthew 18:20.  Wow!  God, right there in the grocery store - kind of hard to wrap my head around.  I walked up to the ladies, explained who I was, and that I was glad they had the courage and felt free enough to pray in public (after all, my children think I’m weird, so why not prove them right.)  One of the ladies was an attorney and the other an artist of stoneware.  What an amazing country we live in that we can be so free to pray in the middle of a grocery store and anywhere for that matter.  Though they had no idea what an impact they would have, thank you ladies for your example of praying to our Father wherever you happen to be.
 In Him,
Celeste
