Thoughts for Today

She's So High

This writing may seem like a strange way to enrich your relationship, but bear with me.  Generally, men are the fixers in the relationship and women are the more emotional creatures.  We each need the other even though we are so very different.  In a non-toxic, healthy relationship, men want to please the lady in their life and ultimately desire respect from her.  Women want to feel safe and loved more than anything.  When a couple dances in sync with this concept, all is well.  Having said that, one day I asked my husband to fix the seat of the commode.  I certainly didn’t know how to do it, and no one would want to use it after I attempted to fix it.  Having a wonderful temperament as my husband does, he jokingly commented that all I needed him for was to fix things around the house.  He started working immediately.  After a few minutes, I heard singing emanating from the bathroom.  He often whistles or sings while he works around the house which makes me smile.  I didn’t notice the tune of the song until I rounded the corner of the hallway near the bathroom.  I glanced in to see him bent over the commode singing, “She’s so high, high above me, she’s so lovely…” by Tal Bachman.  (It’s about a man who thinks he doesn’t have a chance in the world with this woman who he loves.)  I laughed until I cried.  He wasn’t meaning to be funny or sarcastic.  He had just chosen that song because he heard it recently.  You couldn’t make this stuff up if you tried.  Here’s the thing…he felt great being able to fix something, that I could not, to please me.  I was very thankful and told him how much I appreciated him.  I felt loved that he cared to help and he felt respected that I praised his work.  I recognize relationships aren’t this simple sometimes, but it sure is nice when they can be.  I wish for you humor, love, respect, kindness, and grace in your relationships today – oh, and a man who entertains you while singing “She’s So High,” as he fixes the porcelain throne.

Blessings,
Celeste
